The Tarn 18 is such a well-thought-out pack, with its pockets galore and a comfortable, kid-friendly fit. Similar to its younger sibling the Tarn 12, the Tarn 18 is just a bit bigger with a few added features. It's sized to fit kids 8ish to 12ish years old, but kids as young as 6 have worn it comfortably. 

This pack has a hipbelt to help support a little added weight (up to around 8 pounds), and load lifter straps on the sides to cinch the main compartment tight. The hipbelt has little pockets on it. Cool! A great place to stick treasures found on the trail or easy-grab snacks.

Like the smaller Tarn, this pack has dual stretchy mesh bottle pockets, a large stuff pocket on the front and a top front zipper pocket for smaller more frequent access. Inside is a hydration reservoir sleeve (reservoir not included), clip on a lanyard and a small zipped pocket on the flap with a handy packing list.

Check out the daisy chains down the front of the stuff-pocket for all of the clippy things! And on the bottom there are four lashing points for attaching any extra gear that might need to be carried.

  • Compatible with a hydration reservoir if desired (not included), with a clip to secure and a channel for the hose. Or fill the back pocket with flat items like books or folders. Also has a small inner mesh zipper pocket for small items.

  • Safety features! Zipper pulls and lash loops double as reflective accents, improving nighttime visibility. Safety whistle on sternum strap.
